Giant Sequoia trees are native to an area only 250 miles long and 50 miles wide in the Sierra Nevada Range from Yosemite National Park to Porterville. The big trees have been protected from logging for over 100 years thanks to President Theodore Roosevelt. Further in 1991 it became illegal to harvest even fallen Giant Sequoia trees.
